Bamenda City Council Mayor and Deputy Mayors
According to the General Code of Regional and Local Authorities, council executive comprise of the City Mayor and Deputies. Bamenda City Council is no indifference to this code. Hence, Order No.000280/0/MINDDEVEL of 6th March 2020 confirmed the election of MR. ACHOBONG TAMBENG PAUL as City Council Mayor and his deputies, MR. NDOH DAVID CHI as First Deputy Mayor and MR. LUCAS NGU AFONG as Second Deputy Mayor after the Municipal Election of February 19th 2020 in Bamenda City Council, Mezam Division, Northwest, Cameroon, for a four years term of office.
Responsibilities of the City Mayor
The City Mayor shall convened and chair City Council Board Sessions
Shall Prepare and implement city council board resolutions
Shall Prepare and execute city council budget
Shall Organize and manage city council services
Shall Supervise city council works
Shall Represent the municipality in protocol ceremonies
Shall exercise road traffic policing powers within the jurisdiction of his council with objective to ensure public order, safety, tranquility, security and cleanliness.
Shall be the Stores Authorizing officer, assisted by a State Employee with the required qualifications
According to section 246 of the General Code,

The city mayor shall be a native of the Region of attachment of the City Council.

The City Mayor shall be assisted by Elected Deputy Mayors
Section 248 of the General Code
The City Mayor is the Chief Executive of Bamenda City Council often referred to as Judge of opportunity, assisted by the two Deputy Mayors as seen above in order of their election. They are all Civil Status Registration Officers. These council executives are assisted by an appointed Council Secretary General whom presently is Suly Kwatila Epse Dzevesen Annabela.
