Lucas Ngu Afong as the 2nd deputy mayor of Bamenda City Council has for over 34 years served as a devoted teacher while leading as Chief of Bureau to Pedagogic Adviser in the Inspectorate of Basic Education. He backed an HND in Human Resource management  and undertook a bachelor’s degree program at National Polytechnic University Institute, Bamenda when he became 2nd Deputy Mayor of BCC. Lucas Ngu is very active in community life and has been the president of Mezam Football League of FECAFOOT, Secretary General of Nkwen Park Strickers, and the Chairman of St Pompilius Mission Nibung of Futru Parish Nkwen. As Vice President of the P.T.A of G.T.T.C Bamenda he gave in his humble quarter to raise the infrastructural evolution of this academic institution.  Afong is a three mandate Municipal Councillor and has contributed in his own small way to improve life within Bamenda III Municipality and has as vision and ambition to raise living standards in Bamenda City as he said, God being the Guide.
